Turmeric and Ginger Golden Milk (Print Version)

Creamy, aromatic milk infused with turmeric and ginger for soothing comfort and wellness.

# What You'll Need:

→ Milk Base

01 - 2 cups whole milk or unsweetened plant-based milk alternative

→ Spices

02 - 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
03 - 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
04 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
06 - Pinch of ground cardamom, optional

→ Sweetener and Enhancements

07 - 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup, to taste
08 - 1 teaspoon coconut oil or ghee, optional
09 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional

# How to Make It:

01 - In a small saucepan, combine milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and cardamom if using.
02 - Whisk well and heat gently over medium-low heat until steaming, approximately 5 to 7 minutes, taking care not to boil.
03 - Stir in honey or maple syrup, coconut oil if using, and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully incorporated.
04 - Remove from heat. If fresh ginger was used, strain the milk through a fine mesh sieve.
05 - Pour into mugs and serve warm.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It turns a simple cup of milk into a glowing ritual that settles your mind before bed.
  • The addition of black pepper is a tiny secret that unlocks all the health benefits hidden in the golden spice.
02 -
  • Turmeric will stain your wooden spoons and white counters if you do not wipe spills immediately.
  • Never let the milk boil because it can change the texture and make the spices taste unpleasantly bitter.
03 -
  • A tiny splash of vanilla extract at the very end adds a layer of complexity that mimics sweetness.
  • Whisking the milk vigorously at the start ensures the turmeric does not settle in a gritty layer at the bottom.
