Turkey Club Grilled Cheese (Print Version)

Hearty grilled cheese featuring roasted turkey, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, tomato, and melted cheese on buttery sourdough bread.

# What You'll Need:

→ Proteins

01 - 4 slices cooked turkey breast
02 - 4 slices cooked bacon

→ Vegetables

03 - 2 leaves romaine lettuce, washed and dried
04 - 1 medium tomato, sliced

→ Dairy

05 - 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
06 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

→ Bread

07 - 4 slices sourdough bread

→ Condiments

08 - 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, optional
09 - 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, optional

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat a skillet or panini press over medium heat.
02 - Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
03 - On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard if using.
04 - Layer in order on prepared bread: cheese, turkey, bacon, tomato slices, lettuce, and another slice of cheese. Top with remaining bread, buttered side facing out.
05 - Place sandwiches in skillet or press. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side in skillet, or 4-5 minutes total in a press, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
06 - Remove from heat, let rest for 1 minute, then slice diagonally and serve immediately.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It combines everything you love about a club sandwich with the crispy, melty magic of grilled cheese.
  • You can make it in under twenty minutes with ingredients you probably already have.
  • It feels indulgent but comes together so easily you'll wonder why you haven't been doing this all along.
  • The buttery sourdough crust gives you that perfect crunch that makes every bite worth it.
02 -
  • Don't skip drying the lettuce and tomato or you'll end up with a soggy sandwich that falls apart.
  • Medium heat is your friend here because too high will burn the bread before the cheese melts.
  • Let the sandwich rest after cooking so the layers settle and you can actually slice it cleanly.
03 -
  • Use a heavy skillet or cast iron pan to get an even, crispy crust without hot spots.
  • Press gently with a spatula while grilling to help the layers stick together without squishing out the fillings.
  • If your tomato slices are very juicy, layer them between the turkey and bacon to protect the bread.
  • Make extra bacon in the morning and keep it ready so this comes together even faster.
