Raspberry Chia Jam Toast (Print Version)

Wholesome toast topped with vibrant raspberry chia spread, naturally sweet and full of flavor for any time.

# What You'll Need:

→ Raspberry Chia Jam

01 - 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
02 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
03 - 1 ½ tablespoons maple syrup (or honey if not vegan)
04 - ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

→ Toast

05 - 2 slices whole grain or gluten-free bread
06 - 1 tablespoon plant-based butter or regular butter (optional)

→ Optional Toppings

07 - Fresh raspberries
08 - Sliced banana
09 - Coconut flakes
10 - Chopped nuts
11 - Fresh mint leaves

# How to Make It:

01 - Place raspberries in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until berries break down and release juices, about 3 to 5 minutes.
02 - Using a fork or potato masher, mash the raspberries to your preferred consistency.
03 - Add chia seeds and maple syrup to the mashed raspberries. Continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract if using.
04 - Let the jam rest for 5 minutes to thicken. If it becomes too thick, stir in a teaspoon of water to loosen.
05 - Toast the bread slices to your desired crispness.
06 - If desired, spread plant-based or regular butter onto the warm toast.
07 - Generously spread the raspberry chia jam over the toast.
08 - Top with fresh raspberries, sliced banana, coconut flakes, chopped nuts, or fresh mint as preferred. Serve immediately.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • No cooking skills required—just a pan and five minutes of your attention, which feels like a gift when breakfast actually tastes this good.
  • The jam keeps for days, so you're really making something that keeps giving you reasons to slow down each morning.
02 -
  • If your jam seems too thick even after adding water, remember that it will thicken more as it cools, so err on the side of looser when you first make it.
  • Fresh raspberries can make a more delicate jam than frozen ones, but frozen berries actually release more juice and create a thicker consistency naturally—it's a trade-off worth understanding.
03 -
  • Keep a jar of chia seeds on hand year-round; they're your secret weapon for quick, no-cook jam whenever fresh berries appear.
  • If raspberries are expensive where you are, frozen berries cost less and honestly work just as well—sometimes better, because they're picked at peak ripeness.
