Mint Lime Agua Fresca (Print Version)

Cool down with a fresh blend of lime juice, mint, and a touch of sweetness.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fresh Produce

01 - 1 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed
02 - 3 large limes, juiced (approximately 8 tablespoons lime juice)
03 - 1/2 lime, thinly sliced, for garnish (optional)

→ Sweetener

04 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar or agave syrup

→ Liquids

05 - 4 cups cold water
06 - 1 cup ice cubes

# How to Make It:

01 - Combine mint leaves, lime juice, sugar, and 2 cups of cold water in a blender; blend until mint is finely chopped and sugar dissolves.
02 - Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove mint solids.
03 - Add remaining 2 cups cold water and ice cubes to the pitcher; stir thoroughly.
04 - Taste and modify sweetness by adding sugar or agave syrup as desired.
05 - Serve chilled, garnished with lime slices and extra mint leaves if preferred.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It takes 10 minutes and tastes like someone spent hours on it.
  • One sip cools you down faster than anything from a bottle.
  • You can adjust the sweetness until it's exactly right for your mood.
02 -
  • If you skip the straining step, the drink will taste fine but feel slightly sandy from the mint particles, and that texture ruins the whole thing.
  • Don't blend the mint for more than 30 seconds or it starts to turn dark and lose its bright, fresh flavor.
03 -
  • Fresh mint loses flavor quickly once it's cut, so blend it right before serving whenever possible.
  • Use a citrus juicer if you have one—it gets more juice from each lime and keeps the bitter white pith out of your drink.
